ABOUT THE TECHNICAL THEATRE AWARDS
Why do these awards exist?
We asked over 4000 voters in 2014 how they found the TTAs.
The industry really is talking about the TTAs more than us!
The aim of the TTAs is simple; to give credit to dedicated individuals who are often not recognised for their hard work behind the scenes.
To bring our amazingly creative industry closer together, giving everyone working within the technical theatre industry the opportunity to recognise the excellence of their colleagues.
Nominations for 2015 awards open on 1st March. Anyone working in the industry can register and nominate a colleague. Nominations close 13th May 2015 and the Technical Theatre Awards Panel will draw up a shortlist of candidates per award. Voting opens 24th June 2015.
As the TTA’s grow and develop every year, we aim to improve the model, to provide the industry with the awards they deserve. We are constantly looking to the industry for guidance and ideas on how we should improve the awards.
In 2015 we are introducing a panel of industry figures to help shortlist the nominees. In relation to this, our brand new website has improved the process in which voters can obtain information about the chosen nominees.
Join us this year and sponsor a Technical Theatre Award. You will have the opportunity to present your award, professionally framed, along with your company name and logo. This years exciting venue, on board the Sunborn Yacht, will enable us to guarantee brand exposure for our sponsors with total control over the ceremony environment.
In addition you will benefit from the vast publicity coverage the TTA’s are increasingly receiving.
We aim to improve the quality of our media output and social media coverage this year thus creating more exposure for our sponsor’s brands.
If you think you could help or would like more information about sponsorship, please email us or download our Sponsorship Information Pack.
In 2013 a group of freelance stage technicians created an innovative set of awards to highlight outstanding achievement and dedication within the technical theatre industry. The ‘Technical Theatre Awards’ were launched as a way of formally recognising the backstage ‘unsung heroes’.
In their opening year, the Technical Theatre Awards were presented by prolific multi award-winning lighting designer Rick Fisher, at a ceremony during PLASA London 2013. Fifteen awards sponsored by companies including Philips Entertainment, PRG, and Triple-E were presented on the Theatres Trust stand in the midst of thousands of exhibitors and visitors.
In 2014 the awards where again presented during PLASA London by Artistic Director of the Royal Opera House, Kaspa Holten.
For 2015 the awards will be presented on the SunBorn Yacht just yards from PLASA London.
The Directory is the latest addition to our website and will become core to our community and the awards. The directory is an opportunity for any company, group or organisation in the industry to create a listing.
We will be highlighting our sponsors and supporters profiles which can be updated with their latest information.
The directory is open to everyone and free so it is also a great source of information, you can add your own business or any that you think would be useful to others.
